Professional Objective
I find ways to add value by filling the role that needs filling
If a team is leaderless, I will stand up. If my team needs a follower, I am proud to be one. My best employable skill begins with my ability to recognize what is needed. Oftentimes, my emotional intelligence enables team synergies.
I am also a fearless learner. I my team is lacking a particular skill I will go obtain that skill. I have yet to find a challenge that, given the proper time and recourses, I could not overcome.
Help people get what they want
Service is something that I enjoy. I feel silly writing it. It seems to me that in our society ones sense of self worth is based more upon how often your served vs. how much you serve. I enjoy anothers joy. I know life can be difficult. I like it when I can listen to a friends issue so that the they can cathartically feel better. Or listen to a customer's or trainee's needs or wants and help them find the best way to meet them.
Helping others find the good time they didn't know they were missing
Oftentimes when people ask for assistance they don't expect to find a good time as well. Be it strategically using a joke, or making eye contact, or simply selflessly leading conversation; I give them something they did not know they were lacking - positive human interaction.
Facilitate Employee Buy-In
In my personal life I have spent a great deal of time interpreting faith. It can be a wonderful thing. It can be particularly useful if you use it to further goals. I possess the ability to CHOOSE MY ATTITUDE. I deliberately dedicate myself to my mission, or my employers mission. If that is coupled with employee and co-worker respect and friendship those around me choose to believe as well. It is a magical thing when you have a team all believing in the same mission and moving in the same direction.
Teams I am involved with produce more for our management, customers, and the team members themselves. When we strive together we win and lose together. Shared defeats minimize the feeling of loss. Shared joys reap exponential emotional rewards.
Reward effort as well as results
In business there will almost always be another opportunity. I keep teams positive and rewarding by looking for ways to praise. Humans like to feel proud of their effort. This fact can be used to the business' advantage. If its an employees best effort you want, learn to recognize and acknowledge it.
No Enemies
One of the things I have learned. Never make any enemies. Adversaries are OK, but never confuse that with someone who genuinely wants to bring you down. This is an easy thing to accomplish. Simply - like to like everybody. No exceptions.
Understand that everyone is good at heart. If they are screaming at you - they have some unmet emotional need. Do the best you can to ease their pain. As my favorite philosopher advised, turn the other cheek. This is not to say ignore them. Give them more of an outlet. It's a gift from you to them.
Also, help others feel better about themselves with genuine recognition of their value. And never forget to be humble, hardworking, and honest. People tend to like humble, honest, and hardworking. I think it reaffirms their hope that there are some things are right in the universe.

Wherever you are at or whatever you are doing - have fun doing it! It is as easy as believing.
